전기가 없던 近代까지 밝은 달(moon)이 오늘날의 電燈 역할을 했습니다.
오늘날에도 전기가 없는 지역에서는 밝은 달이 電燈 역할을 합니다.
구약 시대의 많은 절기들은 밝은 달빛을 의존하였으며, 장거리 여행을 할 때에는 밤에 북극성을 찾아서 북쪽을 확인한 후에 나아갈 방향을 결정하였습니다.
사라졌던 달빛이 다시 나타나서 새로운 달(month)이 시작되는 월삭(new moon; 新月) 역시 중요하였습니다.
성경을 읽을 때 음력(陰曆)을 고려해야 합니다.
